Nate Beason

 

 

 

 

Nate Beason

Nate Beason was born in Long Beach, CA and grew up in the San Joaquin Valley in a blue collar household in a blue collar town.  He was a naval officer for 30 years, rising to the rank of captain. He served on eight ships, three of them as commanding officer. He also commanded two shore activities. In 1993, Nate was the commander of a seven-ship international naval task force involved in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. He is a veteran of Vietnam and made three deployments to the Middle East in command of warships. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Nate was a project manager for a 400 user computer software installation and implementation, and he taught leadership and management skills to company executives for five years.  He has a BA and MA from U.C. Santa Barbara and a Masters from Stanford University. In 1989, he was the Arthur S. Moreau Fellow in International Relations and Diplomacy at Stanford.  He served as an adjunct professor at U. C. Berkeley from 1995 to 1998. Nate is a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the University of California Alumni Association. He is also a member of Trout Unlimited. Nate has been married for 38 years to the former Betty Hopkins.  They have two children and two grandchildren. He enjoys his grandchildren, fly-fishing, reading, and gardening.

Tim Brady

 

 

 

 

 

Tim Brady

Tim Brady has lived in Nevada County for thirty years, has been married to Clarise Collier for 27 years, and has four grown children. He owns Tru-line Builders, Inc. and has built custom homes and many award-winning commercial buildings locally. Tim has served as Director of the Kiwanis Club, formed the CAST Program, a past Team Three Director, a “pal” in the Nevada City Pal program, actively supports the Friendship Club, coached soccer for six years with Gold Country Soccer and Nevada County Metro League, and is a member of the Twin Cities Church.  He loves rock climbing, bike riding, snow skiing, boogie boarding, and time with his family. Tim’s goals on NCTC are to help prioritize projects according to congestion and safety needs; to assist in finding funds to expedite projects; “to help traffic return to the proper levels we were all used to, while allowing local businesses to prosper, so our children can enjoy the same Nevada County we have loved.”

Carolyn Wallace Dee

 

 

 

 

 

Carolyn Wallace Dee

Carolyn Wallace Dee moved to Truckee fulfilling a dream of joining the mountain community with it's wealth of charm and a quality of life that many have only heard of. From the day she arrived, Carolyn jumped in to community involvement with both feet. She is a founding officer of the Truckee Railroad Foundation, trying to bring a train museum to Truckee; she has served on the Board of Directors of the Lake Tahoe Music Festival; and she has worked as the staging director for the Annual Truckee Fourth of July Parade.

Carolyn currently serves as the Manager of Administration for Squaw Valley Ski Corporation. She grew up in the Bay Area, graduating from college with a double major in History and Art. Carolyn brings a wealth of experience and State contacts with her into the political arena, after running two non-profit business organizations in San Francisco that addressed quality of life issues, fair business practices and taxation of business, as well as the education of local politicians.

She is a voracious reader and an avid traveler, having visited six of the seven continents and probably over half the countries in the world. She has served for twenty-five years on the National Board of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and is involved with the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Carolyn has four siblings scattered throughout California and a yellow lab housemate named Wally.

Sally Harris

 

 

 

 

 

Sally Harris

Sally Harris was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in Santa Barbara, often visiting relatives in Nevada County and the family’s gold mine near Downieville. Her gold rush roots are what drew Sally to settle in Nevada City. She served as a Nevada County Civil Grand Juror for the fiscal year 2002/2003 and was elected to the Nevada City Council in 2004. She has represented Nevada City on the City Finance Committee, the NCTV Advisory Board, the Nevada County Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission and the Economic Resources Council Board and its Executive Committee. She is also the scholarship committee chair for the Gold Country Chapter of the California Alumni Association. She holds both a B.S. in Finance and Applied Economics and an MBA in Finance from U.C. Berkeley. Her professional background is in banking and corporate finance and she currently is the Finance Director for The Union newspaper. She enjoys hiking, fishing, all forms of skiing and loves a good novel.

Chauncey Poston

 

 

 

 

 

Chauncey Poston

Chauncey Poston has lived in Nevada County since 1978. An experienced community leader, Chauncey served for four terms as President of the Nevada County Resource Conservation District. He worked to ensure sound and balanced land use decisions as a member of the Grass Valley Planning Commission. He is currently working to solve Grass Valley's traffic problems as a member of the Grass Valley Traffic Safety Review Committee. In November 2006, he was elected to serve on Grass Valley's City Council.

A successful businessperson, Chauncey received the Vision 2020 Award from the Sierra Business Council for his exemplary leadership and skills in building collaboration. He is currently the President of the Nevada County Board of Realtors.

Chauncey and his wife, Teresa, have been married for thirty years. Prior to their son Daniel's departure for college, Chauncey was a youth basketball, soccer and baseball coach. They have lovingly restored their vintage home in downtown Grass Valley.

Chauncey is a veteran of the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam and Guam. When he returned home, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from California State University, Humboldt.

John Spencer

 

 

 

 

 

John Spencer

John Spencer is a licensed professional land surveyor who owns and operates a surveying and development consulting business that has served Nevada and Placer Counties since 1984.

John moved to Nevada County in 1977 and worked in the county Department of Transportation from 1977 to 1984 reviewing and approving land use projects. From 2002 to 2004 John served as District 3 Planning Commissioner. In 2004 he was elected as District 3 Supervisor, after the resignation of Drew Bedwell. John was reelected in 2006, and in 2007 was selected as Board Chair.

John serves on a number of advisory boards, including the county's Budget Review Committee, Economic Resource Council, Mental Health Advisory Board, Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District Board, Golden Sierra Job Training Agency Governing Body, and the Transit Services Commission.

Committed to the betterment of his profession and his community, John has been heavily involved in volunteer work with the Grass Valley and Nevada City Chambers of Commerce. His business donated survey work for community parks, including the Grass Valley Skate Park and the Manzanita House Play Area.

John's other interests include the Business Resource Group, the Chamber Governmental Affairs Committee, the Alliance for a Livable Community, and the Nevada County Business Association. He also enjoys continuing education and graduated from the first class of the Community Leadership Institute in 1996.

John is happily married to his best friend, Patricia Ingram-Spencer. He is the proud parent of Jeffrey, and Jessica Werntz. John enjoys his grandchildren Madalyn Rae Werntz and Flynn Baer.

Russ Steele

Russ Steele is a Nevada County native. After 20 years as an Air Force Officer specializing in computers and electronics, he returned to Nevada County in 1980 to work for TRW, an aerospace and automotive company. He worked at TRW for 16 years. The last six years at TRW, Russ was a strategic planner with Advanced Transportation Systems, bringing aerospace technology to surface transportation. He holds a roadside-to-vehicle communications patent. Russ spent 1996 to 1998 as Nevada County Community Network's President. Since then Russ has been a freelance writer, with an emphasis on transportation issues. He writes for Comstock’s Business, a regional magazine, and the Capital Journal, a national newsletter for state government staff and political consultants.Russ previously served as a Transportation Commissioner from 1995 to 1997.He is married to Ellen Hollingshead and they have four daughters and four grandchildren. Hobbies include camping, travel, and life-long learning.
